We don’t focus on machine names or shot counts alone. We analyze pigment location, skin reactivity, elasticity/redness/pores, then place you into one of five tailored types and set the direction accordingly.

The 5 Treatment Types

1. Pigment-dominant type (melasma, lentigines, epidermal pigmentation)
   → Laser toning–focused plan to clarify and brighten overall tone.

2. Mixed type (melasma + redness together)
   → Low-energy, wide-coverage approach to gently coax improvement when pigment sits deeper and vascular sensitivity coexists. Good for sensitive skin or those who didn’t respond to strong past treatments.

3. Redness-dominant type (cheeks, around the nose)
   → Genesis in repeated, higher output passes to stabilize micro-vessels and support barrier recovery.

4. Fine-line/texture type (thin, dry skin with fine wrinkles)
   → Genesis with deeper, broader stacking to stimulate dermal collagen and refine texture.

5. Pore/scar type (post-acne marks, enlarged pores)
   → Deeper thermal stimulation to encourage dermal remodeling.

• Focus on soothing and moisture for a few days.

• Mild swelling or redness may occur and typically settles on its own; if it lasts more than a few days, visit us for a check.

“What exactly is melasma?”

Melasma isn’t just “too much melanin.” In deeper skin layers, melanocytes become overactive, extending longer dendrites (cell “arms”) that transfer more melanin more widely and repeatedly—even into the upper dermis—so discoloration lingers.

External triggers (UV exposure, hormonal changes) can stimulate melanocytes and spark micro-inflammation and vascular factors. That’s why melasma spreads softly and broadly rather than appearing as a neat dot.

• Histology: melanocyte numbers can be normal, but cell size and dendrites increase, pushing more pigment outward.

• Some patients also show subtle capillary dilation/redness in melasma patches—sometimes described as “vascular melasma.”

Think of melasma as a reactive, unstable state rather than a simple spot. Treatment must stabilize the process (melanin production/transfer and vascular reactivity), not just “erase pigment.”
