Our Clinic's Dual Laser Treatment Method

An approach using both Erbium YAG and CO2 lasers

Reasons why dual laser utilization is necessary

Lesions such as moles, flat warts, milia, syringomas, and skin tags, which may appear similar on the surface,

have different depths, structures, and recurrence patterns.

At our clinic, we do not perform treatments with only one type of laser.

We use a combination of precisely ablating with an Erbium YAG laser and cauterizing the base of the lesion with a CO2 laser.

This is an approach aimed at reducing the possibility of recurrence.

Approach for each lesion

For mole removal

  • The Erbium YAG laser can delicately remove superficial epidermal areas, reducing concerns about scarring.
  • Subsequently, the CO2 laser is used to cauterize any remaining melanin pigment at the base, which helps lower the chance of recurrence.
  • Especially for raised moles, dermal moles, or moles with a history of recurrence, combining with a CO2 laser can be even more effective.

For flat warts

  • Flat warts are viral lesions, so removing only the surface can increase the risk of recurrence.
  • The Erbium YAG laser is used to evenly remove widely spread lesion areas.
  • Subsequently, the CO2 laser additionally cauterizes potentially infected cells in the surrounding area, helping prevent recurrence or spread.
  • This method can be particularly helpful for flat warts with unclear borders or those that have recurred multiple times.

Milia Management

  • Milia are keratin cysts, and by opening the thin epidermis, it becomes easy to extract their contents.
  • This method involves delicately opening the epidermis with an Erbium YAG laser, then removing the lesion.
  • Subsequently, the CO2 laser reduces the possibility of remaining keratinocytes proliferating again, which is expected to prevent recurrence in the same area.
  • Especially if milia frequently occur in the same area, finishing with a CO2 laser can be beneficial.

For Syringoma Treatment

  • Syringomas often develop deep within the skin due to the excessive proliferation of eccrine sweat glands in the dermis.
  • The Erbium YAG laser can gently refine the surface of the lesion, promoting a smoother skin texture.
  • The CO2 laser is used to gently cauterize deeper areas, aiming to calm the lesion's activity.
  • Syringomas are lesions with a high possibility of recurrence, so multiple treatment sessions may be required depending on the case.

Skin Tag Treatment

  • Skin tags are benign skin lesions that protrude due to the proliferation of fibrous tissue and blood vessels.
  • For small skin tags, the lesion can be ablated with an Erbium YAG laser, and the base of the lesion can be finished with a CO2 laser.
  • Cauterizing down to the base can help reduce the frequency of lesions reappearing in the same area.
  • Especially for skin tags in areas with frequent friction, such as the neck or armpits, it is recommended to combine the treatment with a CO2 laser.
Q&A

Q&A

고객님들이 가장 많이 물어보시는 내용을 모았습니다.

How should I care for my skin after mole removal?

QnA

To aid the recovery of the treated area, it is important to apply a regenerative tape for about two weeks to keep the wound moist. After removing the tape, we recommend consistently applying sunscreen when going out and using a regenerative cream to prevent hyperpigmentation.

If some of the mole remains after removal, when can I get a re-treatment?

QnA

Deep or raised moles may be difficult to remove completely in a single session. In such cases, considering the skin's recovery period, re-treatment can be considered after at least two months, and typically, 2-3 sessions may be expected to improve the depth or size of the mole. Individual differences may occur.

When can I start exercising after mole removal treatment?

QnA

It is best to avoid excessive sweating or irritation to the treated area. Therefore, we recommend refraining from swimming or high-intensity exercise for about one week after the procedure.
