KKEUT Korean Medicine Clinic – Acne Herbal Medicine

A health-conscious acne treatment, different from Isotretinoin and Minocycline

01. Why Is KKEUT’s Acne Herbal Medicine Different?

1) Significantly lower burden on the body

When acne worsens, conventional dermatology treatments often rely on:

  • Antibiotics (e.g., Minocycline, Doxycycline)

  • Sebum-regulating agents (Isotretinoin derivatives)

These medications can be effective. However, because they act systemically—not just on the skin—side effects such as dryness, gastrointestinal discomfort, liver enzyme changes, and disruption of gut microbiota have been reported.

In particular, isotretinoin is associated with serious risks, including teratogenicity, joint pain due to reduced synovial fluid, and worsening of depressive symptoms. For this reason, it is generally not recommended for mild to moderate acne and must be taken only under strict medical monitoring.

By contrast, KKEUT Clinic’s acne herbal medicine is based on Sipmipaedoksan (Jumihaidokuto)—a formula widely used in Korean and Japanese medicine. Long-term use has shown very few reported adverse reactions in clinical practice.

Effectiveness is considered, without excessive strain on the body.

In other words, it is:

  • Not an antibiotic that indiscriminately eliminates beneficial bacteria

  • Not a drug that aggressively suppresses sebum production

  • Designed to minimize burden on liver function

Many patients ask, “Isn’t herbal medicine also hard on the liver?”

In fact, liver toxicity risks are reported far more frequently with isotretinoin and certain antibiotics. The formulation used at KKEUT Clinic operates well within a safer margin.

2) An accessible price range

Many people assume herbal medicine must be extremely expensive.

KKEUT’s acne herbal medicine is streamlined for a single, specific purpose—acne.

Unnecessary high-cost ingredients are intentionally excluded.

As a result:

  • It is affordable even on a monthly basis

  • A 10-day trial course is also available if needed

It is designed to be easy to try without a major financial commitment.

3) Applicable to all acne types

The core mechanism of this formula is reducing the conditions that allow inflammation to occur.

Acne generally develops through a combination of:

  1. Increased sebum

  2. Proliferation of C. acnes

  3. Inflammatory response

Many treatments focus only on sebum control and fail.

KKEUT’s acne herbal medicine is particularly effective at:

  • Regulating acne-causing bacteria

  • Modulating inflammatory responses

Therefore:

  • Sebum-heavy acne → reduces the likelihood that oil progresses into inflammation

  • Low-sebum but recurrent acne → lowers the tendency for pores to quickly become red and inflamed

  • Sensitive skin → helps calm prolonged redness and heat after irritation

Importantly, this approach does not eliminate beneficial bacteria like antibiotics do, nor does it dry the skin to near zero sebum levels like isotretinoin.

The goal is fewer breakouts, while keeping both skin and body healthy.

4) Sipmipaedoksan + KKEUT’s customized formulation

The base formula, Sipmipaedoksan (十味敗毒散), has long been used for inflammatory skin conditions, folliculitis, recurrent eruptions, and acne.

It is also one of the most actively studied herbal prescriptions for acne.

At KKEUT Clinic, the formula is further refined with small additions of herbs that:

  • Calm inflammation more quickly

  • Reduce redness (erythema)

  • Support skin recovery

This results in a customized, acne-focused modification, rather than a standard Sipmipaedoksan prescription.

5) Stick-type, easy-to-take herbal medicine

Traditional decoctions require boiling, storage, and often have a strong odor, which reduces adherence.

KKEUT’s acne herbal medicine is:

  • Packaged in squeeze-type sticks

  • Can be taken without water

  • Mild in taste—comparable to commercially available red ginseng sticks

This format is especially suitable for those who find traditional herbal decoctions difficult to take consistently.

02. Why Sipmipaedoksan?

Sipmipaedoksan—also known in Japan as Jumihaidokuto—is commonly used for acne-prone and inflammatory skin conditions.

Research and clinical reports indicate that it:

  • Reduces inflammatory signals triggered by acne bacteria

  • Lowers the likelihood of inflammation developing

  • Helps prevent secondary worsening such as redness and post-inflammatory pigmentation

Crucially, this is not a medication that simply suppresses sebum.

Sebum plays an essential physiological role. Completely eliminating it can destabilize the skin long-term.

Regulating inflammation instead is safer and more sustainable.

This is why KKEUT Clinic selected this formula—one that can be safely combined with laser treatments, extractions, and calming skin care.

03. Dosage & Treatment Guide

Initial evaluation period: 10 days

  • Is redness decreasing?

  • Are painful, inflamed breakouts becoming less frequent?

Recommended duration: 4 weeks

  • Are breakouts occurring less often?

  • Are repeatedly inflamed areas calming down?

  • Is recovery after extractions or laser treatments improving?

After one month, the formula can be continued long-term for preventive purposes.

Dosage:

2–3 times daily, before or after meals (consistency is more important than timing)

Compatible treatments:

Extractions / Secret RF / Elysion / Agnes / other acne procedures

04. Particularly Suitable For

  • Those whose acne improves with antibiotics but relapses after stopping

  • Those who develop redness and inflammation even with minimal clogging

  • Skin where redness lingers long after irritation

  • Individuals who consider their skin highly sensitive

  • Those who want procedural treatments but wish to avoid systemically harsh medications

  • Those prioritizing long-term safety due to pregnancy planning or overall health
